Mathew Street Festival Takes a New Twist
The Mathew Street Festival has been held in Liverpool for over 15 years and this year sees it taking an exciting new twist. Those that have experienced it before will know that it is a fantastic family day out where the music of the Merseybeat era in the sixties meets today’s icons giving something for everyone. Ask anybody to name something Liverpool is famous for and the vast majority will say The Beatles. The Mathew Street Festival pays special homage to Liverpool’s best known sons who originally made their name in Mathew Street.
This year sees a radical new programme with 95 bands performing on six large outdoor stages across the city centre on August 30th and August 31st. Virtually every theme of music will be covered over the two days with over 80 hours of live music beaming out. In addition, the live acts will be fully supported by a large indoor programme in the city centre pubs and clubs.
